WORLD BOOK DAY

World Book Day took place in O Castro School last week. Everybody came dressed as their favourite characters from books. So, we had Sofia from Y10 dressed up as Harry Potter. We had Miguel dressed up as Willy Wonka in an impressive pink number. We also had giant bumble bees and clowns. It was an amazingly colorful occasion.

World Book Day is used to promote the reading of books around the world. Miss Hallam introduced the day to secondary students in a special assembly which featured some amazing examples of why and how people read. Some staff had been reading in some crazy locations- Mr. Jorgenson was reading upside down! This extreme reading challenge was also in place for primary, who read on cars, on the top of their houses, in derelict piping and hanging backwards off a tree! It was a fantastic effort.

I really enjoyed world book day because I could take part in the book swap. I swapped my book which was Completely Cassidy for A Moulin. I haven’t read it yet but I'm looking forward to doing so. In Year 5 we also had the golden pass. If you won it, you got a book of Horrible Histories. To win the golden ticket, you had to locate the ticket within 30 seconds.
